THE CONCAVES, HARD ROCK SURF BAND:
The Concaves, Santa Cruz's own original surf culture explosion is stoked
to announce the release of their album entitled 'Warning, Heavy Surf
Advisory'. The Concaves are a power trio made up of Bill 'dogfish'
Pitts, Mongo Celebrado, and J.D. Anderson, local surfer-musicians. This
Bona Fide Heavy Surf is at the heart of the next wave of original surf
music. Their passion and love of surfing is evident in the music that
they play and write. The are trying to take instrumental surf music to a
fresh, un-ridden spot.
Jared Anderson along with Bill Pitts and Mongo Celebrado have put
together original music on an album that has received two thumbs up and
four stars from music reviewers such as Phil Dirt from KFJC radio. The
album entitled 'Warning, Heavy Surf Advisory' is attracting attention
and blowing minds on radio stations all over the country, as well as
from Brazil all the way to Russia...
Bill and Jared are the song writers- guitarists and Mongo is the drummer
of this close- knit trio. Their songs are moody, psychedelic and moving.
Mongo, since a young man, has played in various groups including dance
bands to support his family. J.D. has played in punk and hard rock bands
from Santa Cruz to Los Angeles. Dogfish has played blues, punk rock,
psychedelic, and even jazz, but his first band was a local first wave
surf band, and that is where his heart has always been.. And of course,
the enthusiasm is felt equally by all in the band and by all that hear
them play live.
