The Concaves CD
"Alive From the Red Triangle"

The following is a quote from Phil Dirt, surf instrumental critic of Reverb Central about The Concaves:

"Six five intros & as many cool vocals about the surfing life are commingled on "Alive from the Red Triangle". This is a major step forward for Santa Cruz's The Concaves. A very strong modern surf CD!"
Overall Rating : 4 Stars

"Track 6, "Sunset at Mitchells" is a gorgeous track.  Liquid whammy shimmers in the sunset glow of an island lagoon.  The melody is lush, and the ambiance very effective.  I like this a lot!  5 Stars!"

"Track 8, "Surfer's Prayer" saunters across the quiet waters, calling to your inner sense of adventure.  Many nifty licks and long sustained notes.  The use of echo is superb.  Excellent!  5 Stars!"

"Track 12, "Red Triangle" is a rockin' cool track with infectious rhythms and a splendid melody riff.  Slower passages separate the aggressive rhythmic power verses.  This is big rock candy for the curl.  5 Stars!"

The Concaves CD
"Warning Heavy Surf Advisory"
Called one of the Best cds of Santa Cruz for
'2004' by the
Good Times Newspaper

"Pure and simple , this cd rips. Local surf rockers The Concaves have splashed plenty of melody onto this all instrumental disc, but it's never at the expense of balls. The group is effortlessly expressive on Warning Heavy Surf Advisory, clearly conveying specific emotions without singing a word one."

"The Concaves take surf-rock music another step further into new waves of sound...... Pitts and Anderson strut their very substantial stuff with brilliance on all of these original tunes."
......Tammi Tenino -Surf Rock Music.com

"Just reviewed your first effort. Very impressive body of work. My first thought was to compare it to something I had heard before like a collision between Pink Floyd and the Ventures but that would only minimize the great creative energy of what I have
listening to."
......Roger Bolt -KRCB FM, www.bolt-media.com

"The Concaves impressed with their contribution to the Cordelia Records Compilation
Frank Zappa tribute cd 'Lemme Take You To The Beach' with their inspired version
of the Zappa tune'We Are Not Alone'. So how do they fare on their own album of original material?
Stunningly well is the answer......the focus is on the guitars which weave you in, hold your
attention, then blow you away man. Lush echo, sustain, compression, and tremelo are used to create a fabulous set of sounds."
